FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – On Sunday, May 19, Allen County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers and family members will attend CASA Day at the Zoo. The group of 230 will be wearing bright green “Wild about CASA” t-shirts. They will assemble in the Twiga Pavilion 11:00 am – 1:00 pm for a buffet lunch.
Allen County CASA advocates for the best interests of more than 400 abused and neglected children in Allen County. According to Nancy Springer, Director, “Our team of more than 100 volunteers provides a voice for children involved in child abuse and neglect cases. They advocate for the best interests of these children who might not otherwise have a voice. They make recommendations to the court regarding the placement of children and services to assist both children and parents. These individuals have a heart for children in our community and want to make sure that abused and neglected children do not get lost in the court system. ‘CASA Day at the Zoo’ is an opportunity for us to thank and celebrate them!”
