Expired plate leads to meth arrest in Muncie

MUNCIE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Just before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, Trooper Lee Tinch was driving south on Madison St. in Muncie when he got behind a black Chevrolet Impala. He ran a check on the plate and found it had expired in October but had a current expiration of 2020 sticker displayed.

Tinch stopped the car on Madison south of Jackson St. and made contact with the female driver, who admitted she had falsely put someone else’s 2020 sticker on her expired plate. Muncie K-9 Officer Zac Osborne was nearby and stopped to help Tinch. After taking his partner, Bosco, around the outside of the car, the dog indicated the presence of contraband on the passenger side of the car.

Further investigation by the officers found that the front seat male passenger, Chad Koger, age 42 of Muncie, was in possession of Methamphetamine. Koger was arrested and charged with Level 6 Felony Possession of Methamphetamine. He was lodged in the Delaware County Jail. The female driver was issued a ticket for Operating a Vehicle with Expired Plates and allowed to leave the scene. Tinch was assisted in his investigation by Muncie Officer Osborne and Troopers Ridgway and Jones.
