FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Community Schools lottery for all grade levels will be held Friday, Jan. 17, at the Family and Community Engagement Center, 230 E. Douglas Ave. The lottery is for those who applied to a magnet school, high school Program of Study or a school other than a child’s geographically assigned school.
The lottery for elementary and secondary schools begins at 9 a.m. The lotteries are open to the public. Parents wanting to find out their children’s status can do so immediately after the lottery. Photo identification will be required.
FWCS allows parents to submit school assignment applications for their children if they want to attend a school other than the one to which they are assigned based on their home address. Applications were due Friday, Dec. 13. If there are more applications than spots available at any grade level and at any school, a lottery is held to determine placement.
Parents who completed a lottery application before the Dec. 13, 2019, deadline and unable to attend the lottery will receive a letter by early February with the results. Parents who completed an application on-line may also access the information online through the FWCS Parent Portal, myFWCS, or in person at the Family and Community Engagement Center during normal business hours (7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.). A photo ID will be required. Information will not be given out over the phone.
